Green Renovation
Green building renovation has become one of the fastest growing segments of the remodeling industry. Green renovation is not just a tree-hugger mentality as some say, but more about being a good steward of our resources. There are processes that can give you a green bathroom renovation, a green kitchen renovation or a green home improvement. Green remodeling is a matter of using a complete approach to the project. Using space to its best advantage by re-using material where practical, employing new technology that saves water and electricity. Even applying a portion of the possible things that could be done can be worth it. Green renovation and
green restoration can be applied to a small project or a large one. Whether your intentions are to save the planet or save yourself money on water and electricity. Green renovation can be for you.

Green Renovation Atlanta GAGreen renovation and
green home improvement has been birthed out of a feeling that has been sweeping the nation in the past years that reflects the notion of leaving a better place for our children. Why our Government hasn’t caught this idea with reducing government spending is beyond me. The rest of us have been raised to be responsible and not make a mess that someone else has to pick up. I remember as a child being raised in the 1960’s being taught not to litter. It just made sense to me, why would you throw your trash out the window for someone else to see or have to pick up. Unfortunately there are still people that haven’t realized it. It is the same way with Green renovation. Why throw away something that can be restored. I have people every year that come to me with a major project and want to know if I think we should bull doze it down and start over or design around what they have. I almost always suggest that we design around it. It saves money and keeps the landfills from having additional debris. I enjoy the challenge of designing a green renovation project where we save the house and remodel it with additions and changes.
Green renovation doesn’t have to be so different that your neighbors wonder about you, like you live in a space bubble. It can be a lot of small things that all add up to a big difference. On major projects we like to use green consultants such as Carl Seville with Seville Consulting. Carl comes to green renovation with a lot of experience in the remodeling field. We sit down with Carl during the design process to try and incorporate green building design into the new design. This is better than coming up with a great design only to find out you have incorporated many things that could have been done green but because of the design prohibit it. Carl considers many things such as energy concerns- which can be as simple as insulation type to construction practices. He looks at the
HVAC needs and gives recommendations on that as well.
If you are considering a green renovation or green home improvement then please call for a no pressure appointment. We will come out and give you some ideas on your project. The first thing to do is to consider the overall project and see if it is practical and of course do-able. After reviewing these things we would move to the design phase which is where we would analyze it for green solutions. We then would recommend these different solutions along with budget analysis of the different options. Only after doing this can you make an informed decision about your green renovation.
