Sunroom Additions

Sunroom Additions are a fun project. They allow a space where you can take in more of the outdoors. Sunroom Additions are usually full of windows so they let in plenty of light. We build Sunroom Additions like we build a house-from the ground up with 2x4’s and framing lumber. We don’t usually recommend the panelized Sunroom Additions unless you live in a mobile home which in that case would be more appropriate. That way the Sunroom Addition will go down in value about as fast as the mobile home will. We have had to tear down those kind to build a real Sunroom Addition in the past. They tend to not last very long because of the way they are constructed. Call us and we will come out and give you ideas about a Sunroom Addition to your house. We use Computer Aided Drafting software (CAD program) to design your sunroom. This allows us the ability to show what it will look like on your house and see the interior layout as well. Sometimes the building lines are so close to the house we are limited to the size of the Sunroom Addition. When this happens it is important to see how much furniture we can get into the space to see if it is practical to build it. We built one that was only 8’ out from the rear of the house and then wrapped around the side to make it 12’. We used cathedral ceilings to give it an open feel. Using plenty of glass in the gable makes sure that the light will not be hindered. We like to finish the exterior to match the existing house. If it is brick it may be difficult or even impossible to match it, in that case we use a contrasting material or color. Sometimes a fireplace is nice in a Sunroom Addition. If it has a gable we can add windows on each side of the fireplace and even a small triangular window above that. If you have a great view you might add a covered porch off of your Sunroom Addition. This will allow for access to the porch and the view by installing sliding patio doors. The open cathedral ceiling can be simple with just drywall painted or it could be rustic with open wood framing and beams. A combination of ceiling fans and can lights can be a nice touch. They make some really nice ceiling fans that you can use to decorate with. Flooring could be either a natural stone floor like travertine or even a wide plank wood floor would work well. Depending on the construction of the existing home we may have to add a separate heating and cooling unit. Many times we use a wall unit because of its simplicity and size. Sometimes we are able to tie-in to the existing system without any problems. If the floor is concrete we can add a heated floor under the tile to warm the floor up. This is a nice option we use in Sunroom Additions. Skylights can be added to the roof to give even more natural light. We can bank them together to form a large area or just add a few. They are available with built-in mini-blinds that can be remotely operated. Skylights that open for ventilation are also possible. They come with tinting on the windows to keep the harmful rays out. Sunroom Additions are a nice place to host parties for your friends. The extra space may keep you from having to move to a larger house. No matter how you do it a Sunroom Addition is a nice asset to any home!
